Instead of returning to the warm embrace of an appreciative nation, veterans feel even more isolated as they come home to a society changed by social distancing and a healthcare system that is at times overwhelmed by the coronavirus. Veteran-owned businesses have closed or struggled immensely during the pandemic-related shutdowns. Military suicides have increased 20 percent this year. It was the advocacy of this group that would help veterans achieve all of these things and much more. But they did have a brand new organization of wartime veterans known as The American Legion. They did not have veterans’ preference laws to help ensure meaningful job opportunities. They did not have a GI Bill to help them obtain higher education or home loans. The veterans of a century ago did not have a state-of-the art health care system to respond to their wounds and ailments. That great moment which was intended to usher in a new era of world peace, also occurred in the middle of a global pandemic. Veterans Day, November 11, can be traced back to the 1918 armistice which ended World War I. In short, veterans are our nation’s greatest asset. We believe veterans have earned the opportunity to thrive. The organization that I lead, The American Legion, believes no veteran should be abandoned. But nonetheless, the sentiment is still valid. The men and women who have earned the title “veteran” during modern times are a much more diverse group than the continental troops that Hamilton led during the Revolutionary war. “Justice and humanity forbid the abandoning to want and misery men who have spent their best years in the military service of a country or who in service had contracted infirmities which disqualify them to earn bread in other modes,” the architect of America’s financial system said. “Bill” OxfordĪlexander Hamilton understood. “Bill” Oxfordīy National Commander James W. But on the other side of the spectrum people that look at the joke part and feel like that it was a joke and know it was probably satire.National Commander James W. I do feel like it is funny that is true but I feel like the people that have families that served in wars, they could probably feel like dream is making fun of the people that relate to veterans day, people can find that dream is ignoring the people that served and using the word unparalleled they might think dream is saying people that fought in l'manburg is more brave than the other wars. I wish I could've gotten my hand on some of those stickers, man.Īnyways I just wanted to share that story cuz I think it's funny Then they painted a GIGANT sticker on their headquarters wall and the police was simply ordered to paint over it with black paint.Įveryday the police would cover the writing only for someone to write on the paint again and again lmao. Police got ordered to remove them all by hand which made the organization put up more stickers. Like the most crazy thing in german politics recently was when a guy called a politician a dick on twitter and the guy got swatted which pissed off lots of young people so a leftist organization in the city where the politican works made stickers calling him a dick and put them EVERYWHERE. Trust me looking at american politics as someone from germany is literally insane. They always point at countries they ruined and go "See we can't do those things or we will end up like them". Like they are so sure that the US is the best country in the world that they don't bother comparing their situation to other countries.Īmerica is the richest country in the world yet their wage gap is bigger than the wage gap that lead to the french revolution.Īmerican politicians brainwash their voters into being for things that make them richer and make them believe that anything that would benefit them, the working class, is bad and socialism and it would ruin america and make their lives worse.Īlthough they know that other countries with way less money have implemented those things and it's working well for them. The USA has somehow gotten their citizens to blindly trust them and turn their working class against eachother to the point where they are against things that would benefit them.
